Tóxica

TOXICA is a video-text-installation that questions the hegemonic masculinity as a source of gender violence. To avoid focusing on the story and figure of the womans victims , Milena Pafundi activates a device that is the result of research and compilation of fragments of speeches in the internet: tweets, posts and comments posted on social networks that reproduce inequality gender , transforming hegemonic masculinity in a symbolic order that naturalizes homophobic , misogynistic and transphobic violence , turning it into normal and unquestionable.

Tóxica is site-specific installation that besides questioning the privileges and male domination , proposes a social change through the deconstruction of gender stereotypes . In this sense TOXIC intervenes and visually-alter the canonical figure of the Vitruvian Man , of course ideal model of human proportions and center of the universe , suggesting that masculinity is a social construct that can and should be tapped and transformed through art and politics. This installation summarizes the experience of Milena as Vj and as artivista , who thought of an installation not only from the visual techniques and technological innovations but also from the meaning and content issues that interpellate day a day as an artivist and feminist.

The visistan of Tóxica can get into this paper cave that Milena built and found inside a little black box with a button. After pressing this blackbox impress randoms gender-stadistics, misogynist and transphobic massages.
