Whistle Blower
Matthew 6:26,27 "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?"
This painting seeks to capture the issue of anxiety, and shine a light through it. In a sense, it is a whistle blower on worry and fear. The bird on the whistle represents my reflecting upon the said passage for wisdom. Near the break in the sky, is a shadow of Christ. There is an island of common basic needs, including food, clothing, bread, fish, vessels. The balloon is a symbol of hope. Around the mound of goods is the hook of a long staff, which is extended over from the far right, by a hand. The enemy can be more clearly seen in the shadows, if the painting is turned and viewed vertically.
