Temporal City

Physical and psychological aspects of perception combine in our daily negotiation of space. Made on location from the Skygarden in London, each drawn mark is a trace of my series of observations, mapping the constantly fluctuating network of connections which combine to form this rapidly changing area of London. This drawing is also part of my wider investigation into urban space and of my exploration of the history of spatial structures and landscape painting. Currently, I am especially interested in early Flemish paintings; in particular their compressed, fragmented spaces, evocations of the passage time and the haptic quality to the viewer’s relationship with the depicted space.
