Fragile

Fragile

Piatto Unico
Flip through the plate, savor a forgotten story

The re-interpretation of twentieth-century Italian ceramic dishes with period illustrations.
Series-produced items for daily use are transformed into rare objects with the passing of the years and become unique examples of artisan skill and exclusive relation.
Platters, bowls, cake stands, tureens and homeware pieces become the support to tell a story through illustrations that somehow we all know, as part of a collective imagination.
Things of everyday usage are the basis of the Italian design while the attention for the lifecycle of products is a contemporary issue, as well as the tension for selecting information among the continuum of solicitations.

For the Celeste Prize we have chosen works from different ages, made by both famous and forgotten artists, to create a timeless and no-borders dialog among arts.

The front work is “Fragile”: of the man is left skeleton and blood; the anatomic picture made by Paolo Mascagni (1755-1815) has been put in relation with a vintage white-bone platter of Società Ceramica Italiana and seem to talk to the perfect Vitruvian Man very naturally, nearly unconscious of his vulnerability.
