Mourning the Loss of a Dream II

Made during a video project where the artist was painting and being interviewed at the same time. The painting expresses the artist's frustration, disappointment, grief, and anger at an incident that happened the night before. This is a period of chronic disappointment in the artist's life. Another dream has been shattered into pieces. The artist is forced to reexamine her illusions and reevaluate her sense of reality. On one hand the painting is powerless and vulnerable - showing the loss of her dreams and ideals. On the other hand it is stubborn and indignant - showing her unwillingness to succumb to reality. The fragmented marks show a sense of urgency to release her emotions and a reluctance to express coherently.
