Illegal trade

Illegal trade

The illegal trade in skins and parts of wild animals and protected species is illegal in almost all countries of the world. It’s the fourth illegal market after that of arms, drugs and human trafficking, and often is managed by organized crime and makes many billions of dollars per year, a portion of which is used also to finance terrorist groups.
Unfortunately, vanity, false beliefs, use in circuses and zoos, this business never stops and for every animal that comes alive in the destination countries, at least nine others die during transport.
Hunting, although permitted in many parts of the African continent, certainly increases this trade, tickling the pride and vainglory of many people, as recently has appeared on the world, including who believe themselves heroes shooting and killing a lion or other dangerous animal to show the trophy in their home, or even just to shot a picture next to the beast killed.
The images seek to decontextualize the animal from its habitat, avoiding as much as possible the effect of naturalistic pictures, to show only a part, as if it were a matter of the illegal trade, but made lawful by the photograph and sending back to the mind of the beholder the environment and the rights to freedom of the same animals protagonists of the project.
