What is taboo for you might be totem for me

. As society changes taboos surrounding such things as relationships, sexual orientation and behaviour change and some are disappearing altogether. This painting explores the individuals' response to this changing situation. Their facial expressions, gestures and position within the painting show what they may be feeling about their situation, the proximity of other, perhaps different configurations of people, their actions and gestures. Some are surprised at what's going on, some are angry, some indifferent, happy or just bored. Oddly, they all seem to fit in with each other, jigsaw fashion, an optimistic metaphor for the benefits of removing some taboos - it leads to a more homogeneous society - providing of course, it involves consenting adults.
