MirAr-te "Look at yourself" portrays women who fight against the breast cancer. This project pretends to bring Photography to these women who pass through the process of discovery and treatment of breast cancer, and to study the impact of pictures on the process. These women suffer radical changes in their image, understanding that their body image is a mental image of how they see themselves, of their liking –or not- to see themselves, of how they appear to others, of reminding their bodies.
With the images took shape an imperceptible reality, the one which is between the self-image (held in memory) and the photo as a concrete element of reality.
The disease itself leads to a secrecy that encapsulates their body image in their memory.
We try two things: to capture the time that the self does not have to accompany the incredible speed with which the body changes occur, and to decrease the distance between the self-image and the one seen in the photo.
Will the picture succeed to combine the pieces of one corporal reality?
