ICOGLIPTO

I always search for the union between sculpture and sound. The inspiration that characterizes my work is deeply rooted to my Italo-Greek origins. The sound depends on the shape and form by sound. I call these works with the neologism "VASOFONI" (= vases sound). The work I present is "ICOGLIPTO" (= sound sculpture in greek), inspired by the studies of Marius Schneider, I exposed at the graduation thesis in the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. The work is formed by an organ pedal which generates air and, through pipes, the air is conveyed in the sculptures. The sound coming out of the sculptures is granted according to the tempered system. The installation to be complete, it needs to be played by its creator. The breath of man, "Anemos" in greek - "anima" in Latin, gives "life" to the sculpture but the sound that comes out is extended ... and looks like a lament.
