Photographed the wave generated by a ferry on return from the Robben Eiland prison where Mandela and comrades were imprisoned during the struggle against South African Apartheid regime. Terrorism has brought untold havoc on a global level .. Juxtaposed victims of terrorism body bags and drowned bodies of refugees from colonial exploitation. Signifier on a social, political , ecological level.

The ancient notion of alchemical transmutation, transferring this idea from inanimate objects to the human soul. Amid a vortex of tiny tubes resembling bones is a skull; An X-ray of a soul and a conscience finding a second life and renewed dignity in a super-terrestrial dimension.

Saartje Baartman a Khoisan woman shipped to London 1810 from South Africa whose body ,buttocks became the attraction in a cage in view of the Darwinian scientists and public. Slavery abolished, unemployed prostitute in Paris died in 1816. at 26 of alcoholism. Anatomist Curvier dissected her genitals. labia search of ‘primitive sexuality’ with physicians at the Academie Royale de Medecin concluded the oversize genatalia evident of the sexual appetite. Baartman’s genatalia and brains was exhibited until 1994 at the ‘La Musee de l’Homme’ in Paris .End of Apartheid President Mitterand after legal wranglings promised President Mandela for her remains to be buried in South Africa and granted a national burial in South Africa in 2002.
