11 Lynch’s Lane is based on an area where I grew up. I feel the juxtaposition of the old town with the modern in the far background is a reflection of how Gibraltar has evolved as a country. The artwork is first sketched on paper and then applied onto hardboard. Once taking the painting element to a 70% stage, I then took to my pyrography burning tool were I took off certain areas of highlights and middle tones in the piece. The burning then rejects the paper and parts of the hardboard giving it that 3D texture. I then return to paint followed by pouring hot wax over the sky & rooftops.
