Thirsty project

Proyecto Sed / Thirty Project is an audiovisual work that reflects on the wilderness as an imaginary landscape, its dwelling and an opening of meanings from the concept of thirst. Human has a biological need for water consumption, but in this video the excess of it raises a new perspective about the relation between man and his environment.

After the text "I didn’t imagine the desert" there is a woman on screen that starts the performative act of drinking glasses of water (one after another) for 7 minutes (approximately). Initially this action is associated in opposition to the desert, therefore, she seems to satisfy the desire of thirst, aridity and heat of desert. However, the repetition of this action is taken to an extreme beyond the limits of the bodily need, which means that drinking becomes a tortuous process and increasingly difficult to carry out.

During those seven minutes the viewer accompanies the process of drinking water, which began as a meditative time but ends with a wear person on screen. Excessive drinking discards the first association of a thirst of water and we will need to find other considerations. What would you imagine, then, by wilderness? Have you lived a landscape like this? How does it feel? What do you think about it? Thus, the video invites us to contemplate in search of meaning.

The work questions and opens the experience of the landscape, whether for those who know it directly or only by reference. There is an interest in reflecting on the dwelling; think and analyze how we relate to our geographical context, and how this can stimulate new meanings.
