The series Zustände #1-8 (Conditions) depicts bits of rejected domesticity. Having been displaced from their familiar context, the objects’ state of neglect and uselessness seems enhanced. They no longer serve their purpose. They have changed condition.
Placing the objects in a neutral context thereby giving them new attention in order to photograph them gives these broken commodities new value. The series Zustände is about the process of shifting conditions – a shift which can be provoked through attention, dialogue, conversation and interrelation and hence resulting to new unexplained incidents.
