While 18th century paintings fuel my rococo aesthetic, tactile artifacts from distant pasts stir my imagination and escapist tendencies. This piece has the same visual energy and spawns the same spiritual relationship I share with ancient relics. Through a Frankensteinian process that borrows aspects of painting, relief sculpture, and embroidery, I created this textured object that teeters between its previous life and its imminent one. I shaped collected materials to resemble an amalgam of natural phenomena like threadbare pelts and plumage. "Flamenco" serves as a break from reality. It is a meditative portal meant to summon sensations, reveries, and emotions.
