In Between Frames is an experimental film that explores the fundamentals of animated motion through simple repetition. All images are created using a flatbed scanner as the primary tool for the transcription of motion. Two printed poses of ballet dancers are re-appropriated to a new kind of choreography and the stretched and detached figures dance in dreamlike ways. The digital interpretations, though distorted, are a reminder of the technologies that are fundamental for such transcriptions, and experimental practices, which are at the heart of the history of cinema and the moving image.
