Spazi di luce Staging of a natural phenomenon in an artificial environment.
Light as expressive matter: every space is psychic and each light a design space, it’s impossible to separate them. An analysis that has the nature as object and biomimetic as action context. The question of this project is: how nature puts on stage?. The answer: make the viewer reflect on that aspect imperceptible to the touch that nature offers us every day: the sky.
Not only a reflection on the light, but a search for a direct contact with nature. For a moment the viewer will be able to break down the noli me tangere, and will dive into another reality, corners of the sky, that arise from light.
Spaces lose their original nature and will acquire a new one. In a closed environment, surrounded by smoke, the viewer is forced to peer into space, perceive it through the light; light cones invest the observer. Against him will be projected the different changes of the sky, video projections of all that is usually over our heads, but for once it’s contained in a room. All this, however, will work as a film on the contrary; the viewer, in fact, will not have a projection screen on which to see, but he became one himself. Flooded with all the hues of nature, the result will be just what the human eye usually when we look at a landscape. We don’t look video light picture of the sky, but perception is activated to the point of not giving birth to more no substantial difference between the views of a photograph of a Northern Lights and what the viewer has the ability to see into spaces of light. The subtle interplay between what we remember and what we see, is getting stronger.
The immersion is total, the installation becomes the means with what is usually out of the artistic contexts: the health and welfare of the individual. Light spaces shall bear the notions of color therapy, giving the viewer the different shades of the sky, through a careful study on the colors.
Not only color but also sounds: the well-being, in fact, also passes through the sound. Another question: can we listen to the colors? The different colors of the sky, championships and indexed in a schedule, have been correlated with a graphical programming environment creating an audio track that associates to each color a musical note. The interaction with the sound and the space takes the viewer to interact with the shapes of the light cones that adapt according to a fluttering of hands or a liberating scream.
The staging, as well as fit in exhibit design and installation art, aims to become an event involving his own public. Spaces of light has collaborated with several people, who have helped to create a schedule of different shades of the sky. In the months prior to completion, taking advantage of the empowered involvement, were sent via email and through social networks as a subject of the photographs with corners of skies.
The viewer becomes observer, observer and co-author at the same time.
Is talked about a new way of conceiving space, on how an individual becomes collective, in the interaction between bodies and light sculptures, color and sound; in being together not only in the performative, but also in the creative and as a staging can become both a participatory event that knows how to make the most of the technological means at its disposal and the modern social network, activating campaigns and effective viral marketing, investing and dressing so the space, with new light.
