«Virtus inoboedientiae»

A 17th century reliquary decorated with watercolor representation of Eve in the Garden of Eden according to the romantic style of the 18th century; skull and skin of a rattlesnake; ceramic apple painted with acrylic colors.

"The sin was not born on the day when Eve plucked an apple: on that day a beautiful virtue called disobedience was born." (Oriana Fallaci, Letter to a Never Born Child, 1975). Since it is people's faith to make relics true, among many others, this relic may well be there too, reminiscent of the snake that has given us a wonderful human virtue: disobedience.
