Alla ricerca di mia madre - or Getting to know my Mother (giclee print, 2014) is a series of black and white portraits of the artist's mother, which have subsequently been engraved with delicate pencil lines and letters/numbers. The accurate measuring of the subject’s proportions, almost like in preparation for a portrait study, represents an attempt to get closer to her mother. However, the methodology employed by the artist, seems to fail in achieving an emotional contact and accentuates the feeling of distance between mother and daughter.
