My Family Mapping

With this project, I try to investigate, expose and in a certain way also exorcise the cultural, emotional and genetic back- ground that my parents sent to me.
I analyse differences and points in common, because I think that only knowing the best our past we can separate from it, so this work is like a rite of passage.
I made three portraits of my mother, my father and my grand- mother in large format (4”x5”) and then I overlapped it in the darkroom with a selfportrait, creating imaginary and symbolic portraits that may be me but it’s not.
I print these three photos 30x40 on baryta paper.
