This painting of apples on greenish blue cloth goes back to my days as a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of the FIne Arts. As a first year student, I attended a still life class in which the teachers would take turns each month setting up still life models. Each student would chose one of the settings and spend the month completing the composition. At that time I was passionate about still life and thought that I would go on to focus on them. As it turns out my love of nature and open spaces, combined with my desire to capture the essence of certain places that I love, led me to paint landscapes instead. However, I do think there is a lot more to be explored in the area of still life and I hope to paint more of them in the future.
