L'emergere

I started this painting a while back thinking to portray my impression of light and color. The theme then expanded to include the idea of emergence, as in the emergence of form out of darkness or void. On the surface, it seems to be a good distance from some of my recent paintings in terms of style, but closer examination reveals that that it is an extension of the finer detail seen in many of my paintings. As such, I see this as a study taking me closer to a vision of a (future) painting that has been developing for quite a while in my mind. Time will tell where it leads.

I will add to this discussion that although this work was painting from one principal direction, it is balanced from any view and lends itself to being hung in any direction.
