THOMAS

THOMAS

Painting, Poverty, Portrait, Oil, 1.35x1.45cm
I had my studio in Downtown Los Angeles, where life in the streets is shared with homeless. I painted several homeless and this painting is of one of them namedThomas.
He became my friend. He lives on the street, but he works with people, to earn some money. He is always on his bicycle, and that is something which identifies him. He definitely has enriched my life. I was walking my dog at 3AM one day, and I heard someone calling my name: "Susana" The streets were empty at that time, and I could not see who was calling me. I searched and could not see who this was. On the third call, I finally saw Thomas, across the street, where he was sleeping. It was beginning to rain, and he was getting wet.
