When my paintings are dealing with everyday objects and as here with the human figure, they enter the painting plain as structures made up of lines. Then, through utilising how certain paints behave with each other in various states, and on certain supports, I have developed a process where the paint itself takes control over the images transformation from an often figurative reality into abstracted ambiguity. This process allows , as in this painting, visual relationships to be formed and reformed, creating images that are anonymous yet specific. and where narratives become broken down and incomplete.
