STATUS QUO
The focus in the work is the consideration of home and displacement as situated within modern geopolitical realities. Ideas of belonging and estrangement are affected by our relationship to time and space and are also inextricably situated within collective systems. These structures sometimes become reasons for conflict that can vary from local to global proportions affecting each individual. The current work engages with the impact of the psychological complex that constitutes the core of this dialogue. To capture the actuality of this lived experience I use strategies and economies of drawing, as well as formal aspects of scale and monochromes.
STATUS QUO consists of 1597 paper silhouettes and pins that are mounted on a wall.
Each figure is unique, about 2 cm tall and is cut by hand from black paper.
Status Quo, like the other works on my page, is a site specific piece.
