On Suspension

On Suspension

Visual enquiries on the theme of displacement and lack of points of reference typical of contemporaneity. A condition I experienced more strongly while living in a foreign country. Even if I was physically present in a different space, it was somehow difficult to feel that as a proper reality. I realized a series of self-portraits where I appear detached from the ground, displaced, in order to visually represent my feelings. The visual ambiguity inherent to the pictures (not manipulated) creates a perceptive shift and a feeling of momentary suspension from the values of truth traditionally ascribed to photography. The photos have been realized in walkways and suburban roads, spaces related to the idea of passage and non-consistency.
