Bad Ass

I navigate trauma and suicidal tendencies, which often occur within many children of dysfunctional families. I depict birth/death through youthful curiosity and cruelty. My imagery awakens surreal yet fragile childhood memories and dreams. I used colorful, soft, tangible objects that are associated with the enjoyment, in suggestion of supplemental and contrary readings. These interpretations, in turn, bring up the emotional conditions of sadness, incompletion, insufficiency, and bear down on the actuality of depression and suicidal tendencies that is a present in many children’s mental lives. My work suggests this pervasive yet under-recognized tragedy within childhood. It addresses the Thanatos impulse, and the horror of life from many children’s perspectives.
