Cartamodello di piccola casa (Norma Standard's home)

Painting, Ideas, Game / Fun, Ink, 102x102cm
The starting point of the Norma Standard’s Home Series - which includes the painting Cartamodello di piccola casa/Paper model of a small house – was the discovery of stone, and that stone was to set off a creative process. Around it were then layered up other stones, the first wall of Norma Standard’s home. This first, anonymous stone was recognized in its anonymity. So far and yet so near, it proved essential for all later developments, a foreign body around which to build the idea of a home, like the one causing a pearl to form in an oyster.
An unemotional approach to a project without aesthetic aims. A doing without participation, self-satisfaction - filtered, cleaned from any emotional and ideological excess, an oeuvre that is wary of exploited images, so ostentatiously seductive and persuasive. Vulgarly decked out.
A pearl is a surprise, as lucky as it is unexpected, never a programmed goal.
My aim is to defend myself from loving pretence. Emotional trickery.
If I am fortunate, a pearl will appear, unforeseen, on unemotional ashes. A pearl is born from an initial act of non acceptance. An oyster does not generate a pearl as an act of seduction. It does so to protect itself.
