The four elements, water, fire, air and earth shall move groups of images, helping to assimilate intimate dispersed of real in its forms- the leg of wood (earth), cooper pipes (the water), the candle (fire), and the breathable air that surrounds each of us.
Water, placed under the totality symbolism virtuality, matrix of possibilities of existence is the first and the richest in the representations. Water combines mythical formulas of the same metaphysical and religious realities: water lies life, vigor and eternity
In „Dictionary of Symbols”, Jean Chevalier and Alain Gheerbrant, reduce water symbolic meanings a dominant theme: the origin of life, a means of purification - retrievable even in ancient traditions, whitch continued until today. As undifferentiated mass, water represents infinite possibilities, it contains everything that is virtually, everything that does not have form, primordial seed, all signs of further development.
Air is the active element and male par excellence (Dictionary of symbols), while earth and water are considered passive and feminine (materialized), air is a symbol of spiritualization. Air is the favorable light, flight, fragrance, color, interplanetary vibrations, is the way of communication between heaven and earth.
Fire is the third element, creative and destructive principle, following a certain metaphysical purity. Item currently used in rites of purification, the word "fire" in Sanskrit refers to "pure" root of all purifications. Fire is the element that has captured people's imagination since prehistory; attraction of light and heat, doubles the danger of fire that can burn a symbol of what is forbidden, fascinating and incomprehensible.
Earth is the mother, the birth to all living forms.
