Shooting portraits, to me, is a way to inquire into reality, a sort of active meditation. Every time I photograph someone I also end up knowing myself a bit better. I could say that I look at the subjects of my portraits as if I were looking at myself expressed in a different form. We are different, but not so different. Like two waves that are absolutely unique and – in the same time - are both ocean.
Sometimes, the subjects of my portraits do try to seduce my camera, look nice, interesting, special… a lot of noise. I like to unveil the silence behind that.
