Pyramiden Villa de Olmen

Karen Vermeren visited last summer the place Pyramids in Spitsbergen, an empty Russian mining town, between mountains and glaciers. Abandoned houses show another time level.
A relationship develops between the thin glacier Nordenskiold in the distance, the mine site in decline and the old composition of the windows of the villa and the stripes of the old glossy wallpaper. These elements seem to slip away. The representation seems to wonder whether it will be captured as an image, or will fade.

The book is used as an exhibition space. The pages function as sequels and show the process. By turning pages the cyclic changes of the earth in time become visual.
