Mother & Son 1984
Here I cropped an old photograph from childhood of my brother and mother. I try to have a vivid interplay of dialogue between the realism and the abstraction of the piece. The image is jaggedly cropped like that of a scrap book or a thrown away newspaper, this to demonstrate the source as a memory not in current time with the viewer. The confusion between this faded source and the immediate abstract swatches interest me.
The piece also shows examples of body paint smearing techniques used by myself.
