Small Monuments to Uncertainty

Small Monuments to Uncertainty

Painting, Political / Social, Minimal, Architecture, Landscape, Mixed technique, 122x122x1cm
I have chosen a quote from Boris Groys to describe my art work:
"The death of God means that there is no power in the world that could be perceived as being infinitely more powerful than any other".
(Art Power, Boris Groys, 2008)
My work is presented in a post-communist domain, questioning power structures, issues of identity and notions of "the other".
My work could be like an all seeing eye, providing glimpses into a world of ambiguos imagery, and we could be left questioning whether is providing us with post-communist detritus or poscards from a brave new world.
Using this kind of ambiguity, combined with humour and irony, I am interested in how could "influence beliefs and perceptions, further exploring the need for uncertainty and the metaphysical loneliness of the human being".
And this could be a good quote to end the desc<x>ription of my work:
"If man knew the future, he would not have to choose and would not act. He would be like an automaton, reacting to stimuly without any will of his own".
(Human action, Ludwig von Mises)
