On Easter Sunday

Cade and pelting
rain from the sky leaden
makes the landscape
polished new

low clouds recline
covering the high peaks
how to hide
from prying eyes

mixed with voices in the wind
acute voices of children
church motionless in time
hushed silence

chocolate egg recall
Easter
the sound of bells
that expands
as an echo in the valley
