Stefania e Antonio

The work “Stefania and Antonio” comes from a series of paintings on the theme of love and disability entitled “The Sea in Chains” inspired from the ballet by Francesco Ventriglia (Venice Biennial 2007). The paintings offer a positive and hopeful image. The simple gesture of affection represented recognises the importance of love which every human being both needs and has the right to. The representation of a dance using wheelchairs challenges prejudices concerning the capabilities of people who are not so much disabled as differently-able.
