Good Grief

Good Grief

Digital Photography, Ideas, Portrait, Abstract informal, Mixed technique, 50x33cm
When I saw my grandma's portrait at the funeral, I asked myself what the meaning was behind the picture. One’s own perfectly photographed funeral portrait described herself when she was alive. We chose the best portrait to present our loved one to the public. However, the power of one’s funeral portrait was obscured between a photographer, subject and the public. Portrait was taken when alive, but displayed when deceased. It was meant for happy memories, and it also revealed sadness. The portrait has been shown to the public as the subject of grief. So, what do you see in this portrait?
