Quel che resta (What is left)
This self portrait was created overlaying two different photographs of the same subject: the first one, sharp and clear, comes from a single high power flash; the second one, fading, comes from a single long exposure during which a low power flash was fired a hundred times. Breathing and subtle body movements caused a vaguer outcome in the second photograph.
Choosing between a single clear moment or a hundred confused one is a contradiction if we are trying to describe a person inside a photograph: neither option is more true than the other, but their union is an acceptable admission that both photography and our own personas come from a process of construction.
