Call to Prayer

Almost hidden details, cloaked in glowing colour show an Egyptian panorama. The Muezzin mimes above abusive soldiers, openly gay couples, gambling drafts players and a young rent boy, all at a Luxor mosque to pray. The colours are a reminder of the fiery fate Allah promises to hypocrites in the Quran. This painting shows an obvious reality; no society can wholly function within holy strictures, and the attempt to make it thus makes hypocrites of us all.
