In the entrance of Palazzo Vecchio in Firenze is this beautiful statue by Andrea del Verrocchio. I am always looking to make my paintings as 3d as possible. I discovered that when you look upon an object in the immediate foreground that the background doubles. This is because our eyes cross to look at the object in front of us and continue on crossing all the way to the background. To see this effect hold out your index finger in front of your face and concentrate on it. You will see that the background doubles. I used this design technique to make this painting.
