Midnight Garden IV

Midnight Garden IV

Painting, Fantasy / Visionary, Industrial paint / Glaze enamel, 147x114x5cm
Painted with many layers of gloss paint, this picture has a rich deep slighty reflective finish, very tactile, although primarily abstract it does call to mind landscape. People have come up with all sorts of figurative interpretations. I find this extraordinarily interesting as nearly all of these refer to my own past visual experiences.
The composition is balanced in such a way that it reads alright whichever way up you view it!
The slighlty reflective quality of the finish does also mean that people looking into the picture will see something of themselves which effect I rather like.
My aim is to create a picture that whilst being abstract in conception does call to mind a visionary image of the natural world and will hopefully open up a feeling of heightened awareness in the viewer.

You establish a very powerful dialogue between the abstract and the figurative in your paintings. It is also good to see an artist exploring the range of technical possibilities which materials offer. Good Luck!
