In the photographic series " Traits " in front of us naked, in the Re- " Traits " of which we intuit enigmatic female backs, bold breasts, legs intriguing , haunting bellies ; never looks frontally to the model , never seen a face , if only vaguely suggested . The subjects are fully exposed to the gaze of others through the eye , passionate and motivated the author. A look almost analytic of feminine beauty, extremely intimate , that does not document but wants to interpret the different elements. A look with a great aesthetic sense and deep lyricism , who manages to steal the secrets of the forms and then to grasp the pulse of the soul. Naked allude to anything and those who are simply and immediately , mere sudden apparition , in which the idea of the author is to extrapolate the detail, giving it the power of the universal.
A research on the intrinsic physical beauty and inner harmony , the possibility of decontestualizzarla , dissolve the bonds of time, move it away from the real, not depriving it of its aesthetic power , but enriching emotional structures and lyrics .
Shots are elegant and refined , the poses are often those of the classical tradition , arousing a sense of nostalgia and poetry. in the background there is no color, shape or space that can distract us from looking , hit deep . There is only this light that gracefully touches the "marks " of the models naked , and naked we remain in observing these images, as stripped of defenses in a shocking impact .
" Traits " is not only hymn to feminine beauty, but it is also a tribute all'alchemico analog world , of which the author was and is a great interpreter , amandone to resurface techniques and mannerisms into the digital age . The idea arose from the discovery in the basement of some old films under one of the Hasselblad care . The negatives are scanned and processed digitally playing with overlapping layers just for the sake of recalling the old sandwich technique used in a darkroom .
Interesting choice to leave appear at the edges of the image, the frame digits , codes of film, perhaps almost to want to categorize those " traits " . In the negative scanning the artist deliberately dirty and scratched the film. In regard to certain stylistic choices , in some cases , not always a rational explanation is explicit and clear . It 's definitely taste of myself , the old man is shot and never abandoned, is especially experimentation : a sort of sabotage for the sole enjoyment of the image , an invitation to go further, to ask the questions .
