The rise of technology equips animals with prosthetic legs, beaks or artificial tail fins. Those artficial limbs help creatures to get over their physical ailments. Hybrid aesthetic in the field of tension between blemish and beauty. Is it exaggerated love, focused on one individual, in times of factory farming and destruction of natural habitats, which builds these exceptional prosthesis or is it a link to a more permitting future? In her work Evalie Wagner fathoms this phenomenon. The artwork is on paper, which is mounted on canvas. In this way fine cracks and folds are arising and create a distinctive and fragile appearance. Some broken and fixed plates are hanging between the pictures. The work refers to old traditions like the japanese Kintsugi tecnique of repairing broken pottery with gold, thereby understanding that the piece is more beautiful and precious for having been broken and fixed.
