Waiting for the Apocalypse

Waiting for the Apocalypse

Painting, Death, Human figure, Oil, 130x190cm
The series "Waiting for the Apocalypse" was inspired of two works by Peter Paul Rubens "The Last Judgement" and "Fall of the Damned". Some veiled people hanging in the air, on the verge of revelation. There is an absurd scene where the single figure are combined into a knot of people. There is the possibility of falling into the depths, like the withdrawal to higher spheres. The individual figures seem to have no relationship to each other. They are trapped, immersed in their world. The dynamics of the compositions resulting from the spiral and circular movements.

It is a great work done in the classical tradition of drawing and painting. It is a contemporary vision that takes us in to the intenseness of a science fiction movie. It would be interesting to see more similar works, or following concepts on this subject that could represent elements of a changing world!
