When starting a painting I'm aware of questions left over from previous Paintings or drawings. This is interlaced with shapes remembered from dreams or patterns observed or light formations and landscapes, observations that have been of interest. This is the start, the thread from where the painting begins. Gradually the painting becomes familiar and a sort of puzzle. Conflicting forms and shapes again asking more questions, the solution lies in an infinity of possibilities and perhaps can never be found. But I have found answers and the painting is happy and I can begin again.
