I painted it after doing a series of small landscapes in which I repeatedly experienced the urge to work with small dots of colors. I noticed that I had been resisting or holding back that urge, and decided to go with it in this work. In the lower portion, I held more strictly to the concept of Pointillism, as I understand it, while in the tree leaves I took more liberty to simply work with color and design. In the case of the leaves, I became interested with a certain shimmering quality of the paint when it is seen in the sunlight, and decided to leave it as it was, rather than break the color patterns down into smaller dots of color.
