Copenhagen is the capital and the most populous city in Denmark. It is situated on the islands of Zealand and Amager and is separated from the city of Malmö, Sweden, from the Strait of Øresund.
With the completion of the Øresund Bridge in 2001, Copenhagen and Malmö are connected by a road and railway connection through which should improve the trading front, the relations between the two countries and the transit of commuters from both sides.
The Danish name is a corruption of Købmandshavn, which means Port of Merchants. 2025 will be the first city in the world with zero emissions.
