PRAY 1/4
painting_Simona La Mattina
As evidenced by the writings of St. Bartholomew (XV sec.), San Domenico enounces 14 WAYS TO PRAY (*) that were recognized by the Roman Christian Church.
According to his statement the second way to pray was to lie down on the ground forming, with open arms, a cross. Must you also to prostrate with our forehead to symbolize being unworthy to look at the sky and all of creation, because you were on unworthy sinner. Prostration was a symbol of punishment.
Today (20 June 2013 in CAMAC for Open Studio) I lie down on the floor, but with my face to the sky to search for contact and communication with all creation including the creatures surrounding me. I bow to feel the pulse of the earth and stretch my bowels in a prayer to a god with "no name" that belongs to everyone.
Today I want to be the land and the "creation" with her natural balance forgiving all our sins. I want to create a link with the Universe around me with some foreign prayer sounds (inspired from Bulgaria, India, Yemen, Sicily). On the floor the painting with my naked body forming a cross like an embrace to the universe. Today I want to give to a prayer the dignity of a piece of art.
