Inciviltà dei consumi - (Ciclo: degrowth , décroissance, decrecimiento)

The decrease (Degrowth in English, in French décroissance, decrecimiento in Spanish) is a school of thought political, economic and social environment favorable to controlled reduction, selective and voluntary economic production and consumption, with the aim of establishing relations of ecological balance between man and nature, as well as fairness among humans themselves.

As stated several times Serge Latouche, one of the main proponents of degrowth, it is first and foremost a slogan to indicate the necessity and urgency of a "paradigm shift" to a reversal of the dominant model of growth and of 'unlimited accumulation of goods.

If you believe that the backbone of western civilization lies in the increase in consumption and profit maximization, talk of decline is to imagine not only a new type of economy, but also a new kind of society. It calls, therefore, for a questioning of the main socio-economic institutions, in order to make them compatible with ecological sustainability, social justice and self-government of the territories, giving a chance for the future in a civilization that, according to the theoretical degrowth, tend to self-destruction.
