BLUE IDEA - ocean 2009
Notes on artwork:
This painting is created first in the sea-ground. The canvas was taken on the tidal flats of the North Sea. The artist opens up the canvas, presses it into the mudflats with her feet, folds, flexes and moulds it with her hands. The canvas is exposed to the sea, the sun and the wind before she continues her work in her studios with pigments, sands and many different materials. The artist spreads the canvas out on the sand and sprinkled with seawater, sand, shells and seaweed. It means a synthesis of art, nature and subconscious of human nature, which try to integrate the rhythm and voice of the elements into the painting. That is Monika Nelting's concept of art „BLUE IDEA®“.
