Across the universe

Across the universe

When I conceived Across the Universe I was in a gallery in the last days of one of my personal exhibitions. No one came in, so I started observing the copper threads that composed one of my installations of the Jumpers. I started thinking that copper is one of the most ancient materials used by humanity and is still irreplaceable today. Suddenly, a gipsy came in asking for charity. Before he left he glanced at the shining copper.

Copper, I thought, a symbol of crisis but also of rebirth, conductor of life.

Across the Universe I, is an installation consisting of a dense network of copper (also the structure itself is in copper) inside traps a resin reproductions of Pomegranates. These pomegranates that retain their shape and color, however, tend to resemble almost in human organs (almost hearts); inside them, in place of original seeds, i have insert a small fishes made it with pond,( visible in backlight thanks to neon at the base of the structure).
This creates a halo of light energy that radiates into the place where is placed. The light that surrounds the 'installation represents the life force of the ideas that lead to positive change.
Very ductile and resistant to corrosion, copper is a material malleable and easily recyclable. Its properties are connected therefore adaptability, strength and fluidity of the daily of the younger generation.
The fruit of the pomegranate, full of seeds and resistant to any temperature, is in many ancient cultures prosperity, wealth and brotherhood.
