Nostos

'Nostos' is a project about human masks and irreconcilable identities. I was striving to find the real mask of each individual. While experimenting with several techniques, some of which related to a casual logic of creation (light painting, etc.) I found out how a technical error could sometimes embody the real nature of an artwork.

Each image, in this project, has been originated by an initial error. It's the case, for example, of the “double masks”: I was searching, through a series of long exposures, the dilution of a face, the dissolution of its physical features. Instead, I found two strong, antinomical, identities, imposed to the image as the scattering of a unique face into the inexorable fragmentary nature of all its masks.
